17 Million years ago when roses were red and cookies were had I rode to work on my two wheeled sled. I'm a poet and I didn't even know it.

A digital capturing device named GoPro HD (HD stands for High Definition) was attached to the seat tube of my velocipede using a plastic clip. This video camera of sorts was facing backwards and recording photographic imagery onto its Secure Digital flash card of 32 Giga Byte capacity (some know them as SD Cards, and to be precise there is only about 29.96 Giga Bytes of actual storage space) in intervals of 2 seconds.

Below is a selection of images that I thought may be of interest to you, the reader, as they capture the short but fun trip through Bedford Stuyvesant, Fort Greene and Dumbo neighborhoods of Brooklyn, New York.

The one that everyone wants to visit, but most would hate to live in. Me - I can't imagine living anywhere else. The locations chosen coupled with the post processing in these photos makes our town look all shiny and pretty, and it is (or at least thats how I see it in my brainy brain). Been a long time since our last Food Life post, but that doesn't mean that we stopped cooking and eating. Often, in the moment of intense hunger there is no time to reach for the Nikon and a telephone photograph will have to do. Below is a swift assortment from the past few weeks.

We got delicious lunch truck tacos. Meatballs/risotto/Parmesan and roasted tomatoes from the Meatball Shop. Soup and half sandwich from a lil cafe in Dumbo. Spicy lamb cumin flat noodles from Xi'an Famous Foods. Lil turkey/jack/tomato/romaine on wheat. A pastrie of sorts from god knows where. A sausage/pepperoni/prosciutto Stromboli from Forinos. Lil big steak with tomatoes and Italian peppers. A lil Pho with beef, spicy as shit. Dollar dumplings from el China town. And a roasted peppers/chicken/fresh mozzarella pizza from some bombass spot in 'burg.

Food life is back in a major way.

Something that every (nerdy) Playstation 3 owner fears. I had my PS3 since the launch day. November 2006. I was one of those kids that after being unable to get one at the store due to them being sold out got mine off Craigslist.

Overpaying a few hundred over the asking price, $700 cash in pocket, I went to Alphabet City, Ave D and e3rd street, lobby of a project building. Blinded by instant gratification I bought it from some sketchy dude, not even knowing if it works or not - I just knew the plastic was in the box. 20gb version, no Wifi, but I didn't care. I had it. Next a trip to Best Buy. A router, 2 extra controllers and 3 games later I successfully dropped twelve bills on video games within 30 minutes. Yep.

Fast forward 5 years. Not many original launch PS3's still functioning out there. I took care of mine. Besides popping a 320gb hard drive in there, I didn't tinker or mod it in any way. So needless to say when 2 nights ago the lil bastard stopped working I was gutted. I restarted it 1000 times and same thing occurred. Its on for 3 seconds, beep beep beep, and the normally welcoming green light flashed yellow for half a second, followed by the ugly pulsating red. Quick googling revealed that it's indeed THE YELLOW LIGHT OF DEATH. Say good bye - time for a new PS3. A few quick remedies recommended didn't seem to work.

Unable to face reality I went to sleep immediately. Life as I know it has changed. It seemed that I will have no choice but to buy one of the new age "slim" PS3's. No more heat sensitive on/off and eject buttons. No more shiny piano black plastic or gigantic size. No more hungry power supply that could give a college dorm size fridge a run for its money. Fuckin savages. Foul jumpin jesus swines.

The next day I give google another shot. There seems to be ONE solution out there which involves watching through SIX 10 minute long youtube videos, requires silver based heat compound and a heat gun. It also requires taking apart your PS3 down to the motherboard, literally taking out about 60 screws and bolts, disconnecting leads, popping tiny plastic clips outta place. You had to "overflow" the graphics and CPU processors. Melt the solder and reset them back into place.

At a store next day, holding a new PS3 in my hands I decided there was nothing to lose. I put down the PS3, hit a Home Depot and Radio Shack, picked up a six pack and went to town.

3 hours, a few left over screws and a few snapped lil plastic pieces here and there later, PS3 lives! I am now an official PS3 surgeon. Thank you Gilsky for creating the tutorial. You are a god damn hero.

Yep. No surprise - Fool's Gold Holiday party was buttery smooth. Like 8 million people showed up and it got wild. Amazing tunes, good people and vibes and free beer always helps. Sweet dancing with sexy people adds to the excitement.

Danny Brown dropped 3 tracks and predictably the crowd went wild. Below find some pics and vids. Lots of people were in the building. Qtip got on stage and so did ASAP Rocky. Action Bronson was cruising through the crowd. A-trak was there, bouncin. Many more hiphoppidy artists as well, who I can't think of right now. A quick lil moshpit broke out and I almost got my dome taken off by Mr. Browns swingin arms, so him and I are close now.

Only in NYC can one see two of his favorite MC's perform AND shake both their hands and tell them how good of a job they are doing all in one swoop. Well, make it 3, Mr. Muthafukin Exquire next week!

Felt the urge for some coffee, so I stepped out to stretch my lungs on this nice chilly day. Days like these are a bit restless. Alot on my mind, even more on my to-do list. Nice to be able to take a step back and relax a bit. Close your eyes while keeping them open. Perhaps it was because the air was really cold or the sky really white, but I saw Manhattan bridge like I haven't seen it in a long long time, or maybe I just haven't looked at it in a while. That thing is a monster of engineering and just sheer physical size, to think it was built in 1909. Thinking about random stuff is so much fun.

2 games I'm looking forward to. The Last of Us just got announced - and it looks like it will be a zombie game. Looks great. And since Naughty Dog is behind this you know its going to be amazing. If its 1/4 as good as the Uncharted series then it will be a game to get. Dirt Showdown, that's an easy one. Dirt 1,2 and 3 are classics. Dirt Showdown is not a whole new game but more of a arcade add on to Dirt 3, but there hasn't been a good demolition derby game in many many years - and you know for a fact with Codemasters damage model this one will be a beauty. Just wish I had more time to play games. Gotta make time. Here is one more trailer for The Last of Us - this one came out first.

We here at C2D really been diggin Action Bronson. As we call it around here, he got that Jesus Churned Butter Sauce (JCBS). The man is a wordsmith, a humorist and a foodie - 3 qualities that makes one more then likely a fun type of person to chill with. Cracking a joke while pan searing a duck breast with a side of balsamic onion marmalade, and then busting a few crafty bars right after is a valuable characteristic. While we may frown upon, not condone and judge him harshly on all the abusive soft narcotic usage we still believe that baby Jesus will accept him when it's go time.

My people in Madrid told me that out of all the places one goes in that town, one specific one is NOT to be missed (especially before you drink, while you drink or once you're drunk... or if you just want something delicious). Just west of Puerta del Sol is where this magic lives since it was established back in 1890's.

My first introduction to churros was in Brazil and Argentina and needless to say, I fell in love. Not too sweet or not sweet at all, crunchy outside, smooth middle, these bit oily sticks of goodness, kind of like a crispy donut of sorts paralyze your senses. In Brazil/Argentina they were pumped to the brim with dulce de leche or chocolate. We had dozens and dozens of them. Amazing.

Well, Spanish take on churros is a bit different. We are talking a whole CUP of delicious molten dark, strong, hot chocolate and some fresh churros to dip into it. Chocolate con Churros, senior. This is where Chocolateria San Gines comes in, and boy do they come in with authority. I love chocolate. Chocolate loves me. I wanted to get an extra cup of hot chocolate on the side, just to drink down, but decided to calm myself down. This place stays open all night and is a huge hit with all the club going crazies. We went somewhat early, to avoid the pileup and to eat in peace. Besides, I'm more of a "doner kebab" type of guy when I'm club hoppin.

A sensible thing to do after oodles of churros is to celebrate the whole experience with a bit of mini bottles of bubbly and go watch a live performance of the West Side Story since it's anniversary is coming up and all.

During my Spain excursion I visited San Sebastian, in the Basque Country which is a autonomous community up north and was granted its own nationality within Spain back in late 70s. They speak their own language, have their own traditions and just generally want nothing to do with Spain.

And they drink over there, ALOT. First night there I barely had a chance to drop my bags when some lively locals insisted I join them for some wine and pintxos. Now, pintxos is Basque Country's answer to tapas and is the second of 2 reasons why I even marked San Sebastian on my travel map. First reason is that it's one of my fathers favorite citys in the world, and now I know why.

The concept is sublime. You go to a bar and its laced with dozens and dozens of different dishes. Little bites. All sorts of sea food, cured meats, veggies grilled and roasted, cheeses - basically anything and EVERYTHING you would want to eat while drinking right there and then. You just grab a plate, fill it up with what you want, show it to the bartender, he grabs and heats up what needs to be heated up, charges you and off you go. The next few days I spent just shlepping my way from a bar to a bar eating silly. The smell of these places was intoxicating. Can you say Jamon a million different ways. YES! Without a doubt, I'm going back to San Sebastian.

And just to put that fresh cherry on top, there happens to be some sort of a college in San Sebastian, which, needless to say, made for some fuckin OFF THE CHAIN dance clubs right along the beach front. Where am I from you ask? NEW YORK, BROOKLYN. Yea, I love it to! Come visit! ;P

So as I set off on my morning commute and come outside the gates I see a NYPD cruiser dash across the 2 ways street and park on the wrong side, half way up on the sidewalk. Clearly official and emergency police business is about to take place. I pause to observe. The text book definition of a big white police officer comes out and starts walking towards a dude who is standing on the sidewalk, holding a bike rack. Withing seconds it became apparent that they connected through Craigslist and this was a sale - popo man is examining the bike rack, money out. Nothing to see here, I thought.

Then all of a sudden I hear "Wait wait WAAAAAAIT..... where is the 1/4" adapter?" "What adapter? There is no adapter" "Maaaan, you advertised that there is a fuckin 1/4" adapter, I told you I have 2 fuckin cars and now you wasted my fuckin time with this shit? What a fuck, I drove all the way from Bronx for this shit, you're an ass". All of this, very very loud. Very very wearing a NYPD uniform standing next to a Caprice parked half way on the sidewalk, the wrong way. Wish my camera was on. Seconds later the cop took off - I accidentally ran a red light right in front of him, and feared the worst - but I guess he was either bike friendly cop or was too pissed to see me breaking the law.

My commute was on its way.

Classic example of the Hasidic Dash. Parking across a 2 way street for 20 seconds, blocking traffic both ways just so kiddies can get on a school bus. Classy.

Europe 2011 v2 aka The Food Life v48 aka My Life Has Changed Forever

Rome. Tagliolini Cacio e Pepe. When I came to this town, just as any ol' tourist I was curious about the architecture and history. Rome, after all, is one grandiose place impossible to only visit once. Colosseum, Trevi Fountain, The Vatican and many more - yes, I went to all those easy to find must see sights. The Vatican square at 2am, when its empty of all the visitors and you're the only one there is magnificent, simply something else, but more on that later.

What I REALLY came to Rome for was the food. And more specifically one dish in particular, Tagliolini Cacio e Pepe.

I remember watching the Rome episode of Anthony Bourdains No Reservations many months back and I knew that when, not if I make it to Rome, I will track this place down. On the show, Bourdain calls this restaurant X , not wanting to disclose its locations because this pasta dish is that good - and he doesn't want it spoiled by droves of tourists. With the power of the world wide web it wasn't hard to find the name and the addy of this spot. (ff to 2:30 in the vid below)

Months later, I find myself in Rome. Slightly hung over after drinking vino all night with my new friends at the hostel I set off on my mission. I must find this place. Unfortunately all I know is a name of the plaza where this restaurant located, and sort of what it looks like visually after seeing the show - and since this restaurant is located in the Trastevere where streets are intertwined and tiny and not even wide enough for a car to pass it might not be easy to find this spot. Even my detailed map of Rome left a few streets blank in this area - they are that small.

Trastevere neighborhood of Rome is less traveled by the crazed groups of I LOVE ROMA tshirt wielding types so the streets are quite. One only sees locals here. Kids playing futball, grandmas drinking cafe, elderly gentleman smoking cigarettes while discussing Occupy Rome riots, teens working on their mopeds. All quite. Except for the loud bells signaling that you've just spent yet another 30 minutes looking for a tiny little plaza in the city of 20,000 plazas. Needle in the haystack. Seriously.

I've attempted to ask a few locals, to little success, and I nearly gave up. I was hungry. Do I just venture back to the land of the tourist and grab whatever whatever?

Exactly then. In the moment of desperation I turn down some tiny alley, walk a minute and BOOM, its the god damn plaza from the Anthony Bourdain episode. I don't even have to check the name of it, I remember well what it looks like. I'm here.

Giddy, I walk up to the restaurant and request to sit outside. I'm THE ONLY tourist here. The same waiter that you saw in the Youtube vid I've embedded asks me if I'm just one, I say yes. He said unfortunately he can not sit just one at this time. The HORROR. I'm not sure what kind of facial expression I made, perhaps a combination of sadness, desperation and "what-a-fuck-i-came-to-this-god-damn-city-just-for-this-dish", that mere moments later he changed his mind and said there IS one table available outside, and I can have it.

I sit down, more or less in the same spot as my Travel Channel guide. I grab the menu. This will be a feast. I knew exactly what I was having as il primo - Tagliolini Cacio e Pepe, so it was the L'antipasto and il secondo what was in question. I wasted no time and ordered fresh buffalo mozzarella with prosciutto for a starter. And for second I got a shredded steak with porcini mushrooms and gravy of magic - then sat back. And a bottle of white vino too - Grazie.

My journey in/to Rome has been a weird one. Over the past 2 years I went through some life changing events, I won't bore you with. My mind and heart have been heavy for a long time now. So going to Rome alone was no easy decision. But here I was. As I sat there, at this "restaurant X" waiting for my order my thoughts drifted many a place. I even forgot where I was, nor did it matter where I was - I could have been anywhere. Random brownstone stoop in Brooklyn, fancy restaurant in old Rome, the fuckin Moon. Doesn't matter.

Then zoom, my starter arrives. I dig in. What follows is the freshest and most delicate mozzarella I have ever tasted in my life. This is C2D, you know we love a good exaggeration, and you know we eat ALOT and been places, but this was not a god damn joke. Such subtle and focused flavor of the soft cheese, when paired with lovingly salty prosciutto created a combination I was not ready for. This was my starter, this was a simple meat and cheese plate - I cautiously started to realize that this will be no ordinary meal.

The wine was sweet, the locals at tables all around me were deep into a refreshingly loud and lively discussions in Italian while smoking oodles of cigarettes. I simply do not care if I sit here, at this restaurant, in this plaza for the next 3 hours. I'm doing this right.

And then, the reason I'm in this country arrives. Tagliolini Cacio e Pepe. Fresh made Tagliolini pasta, cooked to perfection, tossed with some pasta water, salt, fresh pepper, butter and Pecorino cheese. This is served in a bowl made out of some fresh Parmesan cheese. Another dash of Pecorino on top of it all. Brilliance.

I sat there and stared for a minute - after all, this was the moment I been waiting for. I stick the fork in, give it a twirl. I pull my tentacle back towards my face, lets give this baby a try. I closed my eyes. Time froze. I joke you not, I simply sat there for about 2-3 minutes thinking about life and what brought me here.

Piazza di Santa Cecila. Trastevere. Roma. Italy. Europe. Northern Hemisphere. Planet Earth. Me. Then back down in the reverse order. This bite changed my life.

I have never tasted something so damn divine. So balanced. So basic. Almost as if there is nothing to it, yet its complex to the extremes. Hard to put into words. Its salty pasta, with fresh black pepper, oodles of butter and some Pecorino on top. Pasta perfectly al dente yet it melts in your mouth. Dish heavy on salt and pepper, yet overwhelmingly light. Thank you, world. Why do I feel like I could literally cry then?

I'm pretty sure my very first words that I could mutter were "fuck me" under my breath. I shook my head for awhile. Waited another minute or two before the next bite. Damn it. I love life. I'm blessed. I'm proud. I won and made it. I've been places and I've ate stuff and this elemental Roman peasant dish just outdid everything. Topped it all. Easily. I mean, if you've read C2D for any length of time you know that this has got to the be longest damn write up for a single restaurant ever. EVER.

I collected myself and dug back in. As I looked around, everyone was eating this, all the locals, and everyone was loving it. As I sat there, I saw a few tourists get turned away and walk off pissed - maybe some unspoken understanding, some metaphysical connection made the waiter realize that he's about to change my life - so he decided to sit me? All I know I was thankful.

Next came my steak with mushrooms and gravy - delicious. But right now, just like right then, I spent so much emotional energy on the star of the show that I didn't care anymore. It's like I had a great orgasm and just wanted to take a nap.

The feast was finished. I was done. Worn out. In NYC, once I'm done with a meal I want to rush out, go, do stuff, run, race along sidewalks to the next thing, next nothing. Here, I just sat back for another 45 minutes, an hour. I don't smoke, but I lit a cigarette, took a meaningful pull, exhaled. I'm in god damn Rome. Loving life. I'm not sure if I have been speaking outloud to myself through out the meal, but a elderly couple next to me smiled my way, I smiled back making eye contact with them - they knew exactly what I just experienced. That is why, I bet, they come here all the time.

I'm going back to Rome and when I do, I'm going to this place first thing and share this moment with people I love.

I, Curits, just got back from my little annual C2D trip abroad. Got to hit up a few cities and towns, eat some pastas and pinchos, drink some beers and winos, stare at some views, bust out some moves at discotecas, push some scooters to their limits, meet some cool foreigners and locals, this and that. Overall, a great success. There was a few sad and serious moments here and there, what can I say...someone was missing.

All and all, a trip was 10/10 - I made many new friends and C2D supporters. The next few weeks will bring to you a series of posts cleverly entitled Europe 2011. Hope you do enjoy.

Anywho. I arrived in Rome at about noon on Saturday the 15th. My hostel conveniently located....RIGHT in the middle of Occupy Rome Demonstration turned Riot. Needless to say, it was fuckin epic and got me warmed right up to the excitement that was to come. My first beer in Rome was right across the street from a burning luxury SUV. I couldn't ask for a more scenic intro to Italy.

We haven't heard from Curtis since last friday. he texted me that afternoon, babbling about finding himself, writing poetry, taking artsy photographs - you know, stuff people say before they have mid-life crisis...I thought it would pass but now he's gone. we don't know where he went or when he'll be back. Donde... he just disappeared - without a word. We cant contact either of them, so I assume they are lost.
