J Dilla Rebirth Of Detroit Plus New Danny Brown Vid
New Jay Dee project coming up soon, Rebirth Of Detroit, available in June, and a 10" single available end of this month. The single will have the Danny Brown song below, along with Birthright. I don't see any tracklists yet for the full album, but lets have fun and speculate who will be on it. Right off the bat, I'm eliminating all Cali artists, so no Madlib (I mean, it is called Rebirth Of Detroit). I'm a say Frank N Dank, Elzhi, Houseshoes will have a skit or something, Guilty Simpson, T3, Phat Kat, hmmm, what you think? Suggestions in the comments

Tis The Season

I've overheard some folks stating they are getting tired of these Dilla nights. Well, get over it. Or just stay home. If it sucks that bad to go to a night of great hip hop and amazing production, go to the club and listen to Bedrock
And if you really need something to sweeten the deal, um, how about Guilty Simpson! Nuf said. Dilla and Guilty, I consider ?uestlove a bonus.

And if yer in the BX, hit up First Fridays at the BX Museum of the Arts. Free + El Da Sensei and Illmind.

Charles Hamilton vs Detroit - I Think We Know The Outcome
Complex does a nice write up here of Charles Hamilton career fuckups and it's pretty damn funny. No three strikes for this kid, he's up to strike 15 or something. Claiming ties with Dilla and that album proceeds benefited a non-existant JayDee foundation, kind of set it off in the D. The goofy sonovabitch explains that Dilla was listed as his exec producer cuz they were tight on a paranormal level. Ouch. Yer done homie....

Know Before Noon I'll Be On My Third Beer.....
Sweeney Kovar put me on to this dude, and I ain't gonna front, all I've heard from Danny Brown came from SK. Yeah it's Detroit. Yeah there is some Dilla in there. Yeah there is some Madlib too. But it feels nice, fresh, and raw (like sushi). I'm sure there are folks out there like, "Yo Donde, there is more out there than Detroit you know." No shit, and fuck you.
"Hot cup a ramen might last me a day, broke and ain't ate shit since yesterday"
This here is the song that had me hooked. I had this shit on the train playin back to back. Bushwick to the city to Bed Stuy. Just loopin the fucker. Listen and enjoy.

Turn Up The Bass And Let The Trunk Rattle

In a few weeks we are blessed with an opportunity to celebrate the life and music of Jay Dee aka J Dilla aka James Yancey (1974-2006 RIP). This year Rare Form is coming at us with DONUTS ARE FOREVER 2, Friday Feb 8 at Southpaw in Brooklyn. $5 minimum donation for the Alliance for Lupus Reseach gets you two floors of Dilla. This time, DJ Houseshoes from the D will be hittin the decks takin me back to the days of St Andrews. This should be a bangin time so come out and show some support and respect.
