The Art Of AKIRA Exhibit In Pittsburgh Opens May 8th

If you are going to obsess over something, it might as well be Akira (um, or music or bikes or guns or hand washing.......). Katsuhiro Otomo pretty much set the level so high that while there is a lot of good anime, its not Akira. Cel animation of such quality that digital animation still hasn't reached it. Basically, the curators picked thru this guys collection of original artwork (10000 pieces, a mister Joe Peacock).

I started collecting the comics that Epic put out back in elementary school. These were the color ones, taken from the manga in japan which were in black and white. They would include reports on the movie in the back, with cel artwork and i was so hyped. mind you, this is pre-internets, so you cant just google shit. i was mailing away for photocopied catalogs of anime but there was no luck. then 2 or 3 years later, that shit had a release date, and motherfucker i had my VHS of Akira from the first release, i paid for that shit in advance, when that shit came out it was like 10 christmas's. I got home from my 7th grade track practice (yea, track an field up in this bitch), saw the package in the mail and i was probably too young to bust in my pants, im sure i jumped up in the air and gave myself a hi five or something. Showing an amazing amount of restraint, i called up my homie Accatone and patiently waited for his ass and then it was time.

i put that shit in the vcr and it ate it!!!!! ooooh, jus kidding

we watched that tape 3 or 4 times that night.

accatone, how many lines you can quote from that movie? the OG version, with the different vocal dubbing?

good times
